The votive candle moulds are standard size tin coated seamless metal moulds. They are slightly tapered to insure easy removal of the finished candle and are flared at the top of the mold. The tin coating ensures that the mould will not rust or corrode. They produce votive candles weighing approx. 50g.
Instructions:
Fill the mould with wax, wait until the wax begins to congeal and then insert your wick. It is best to use a wick that has first been primed with wax and has a wick tab on the bottom. The wick tab will then stick to the bottom of the mould. Care should be taken to position the wick tab in the center of the mold. During the cooling process, the shrinking wax may push the wick away from the center. This can easily be remedied by lightly pulling the wick back into a central position. Wax shrinks when it cools down and after approx. 1 hour a sink hole will form around the wick. You should keep some wax aside so that you can fill up this hole. Reheat the wax a few degrees higher then your initial pouring temperature to ensure that the two layers join. Allow your candles to completely cool before removing them from the mould. |
