Specially designed for use in making bath salts & bath bombs but also work in all kinds of water based cosmetic projects.
Liquid lakes are a DYE (not a pigment) mixed in glycerine. They are water soluble and will colour the bath water you put it into. If you use too much in order to make a really strong colour you run the risk of staining the bath or a washcloth, so use a light touch.
Cosmetic grade, not stable in high pH (so will morph in cp soap) and will bleed (ok to use when you want just the one shade of colour for your soap but would not be suitable if you wanted layers, swirls or embeds in your soap as the colour will bleed/migrate into the surrounding colours).
Suggested usage rate: 1 drop of Liquid Lake turns one 1 tablespoon of salt to a medium shade.
FD&C Blue #1 Aluminum Lake (aka CI Food Blue #2) - CI Number 42090, CAS 860-22-0
Aluminum Hydroxide - CAS 21645-51-2
Glycerin - CAS 56-81-5
Usage rate: 30ml will colour approximately 10kg of soap for a medium shade. Recommended usage rate is roughly 3-6 drops per 100g (6 drops for a medium shade).
Melt and Pour Soap: Yes (see image for colours that can be achieved). Would not be suitable if you wanted layers, swirls or embeds in your soap as the colour will bleed / migrate into the surrounding colours.
CP soap: Yes, but will morph into a purple shade rather than blue due to the pH.
Lip Products: Yes
Cosmetics: Yes, but not the eyes
Lotions and Creams: Yes
Bath Bombs, Bubble Bars and Bath Salts: Yes, but use sparingly.
Product pH: NOT Stable in products with a high pH so it will change / morph in cp soap (image coming soon).
Colour Fading: This colour is sensitive to light so may fade.
Colour Migration: This colourant is likely to bleed so is not suitable for making soap with layered colours or embeds as it will migrate or “bleed” between the layers.
